Rustic Weather

These pictures were taken in October of 2004 in and around the abandoned 'homesteads' of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in south-eastern Tennessee. They are all 'found' images, discovered in morning-mountain light. Most are close-ups, of shadow and texture, giving age and character to the mundane and ordinary objects of a bygone age and place. They are a testimony to the unrelenting power of time and weather.

Some of these images were used in Ravages of Time, a collaborative artist book with paper & book artist Drew Matott in 2008.
